Hugo wrotte quote]Anatolia is a big region of Turkey with several kind of dogs. The so called Anatolian Shepperd is just a mix between 2 or more of those kind of dogs. You have tha Kangal, the Malakli, the Akbash, etc.; but no of those pure Turkish breeds is an Anatolian Shepperd. This is what I understand. Same opinion, just if you want go and read the post kangal or Malakli, is very long but interesting as well, maybe can give you an idea about. -

The Anatolian Shepherd Dogs (ASD) are nothing but an western creation which has no followers in Turkey. Turks do not recognise the ASD. There is not even such a concept in Turkey. So as to understand what the true shepherd dog situation in Turkey if we are asked to look at the American pedigrees of the dogs which have been lumped for decades it will be absolutalely ridiculous. Why on earth we should turn to that mixture while we have the original population here in Turkey, the mother land. Check out the following site and do not forget to visit the quiz page. You'll understand it better. www.geocities.com/theanatolianshepherddog
