are american bullies bandogs?
Lloyd is correct here. Bully means basically anything with the Olde English Bulldog or English Bulldog in the mix. The term has be watered down to mean anything with any bulldog blood such as American Bulldog and all the other "bullys". A quick search on here will show several bully types in many countries. Now when it comes to the Bandog - technically there is not supposed to be any Bull in the mix at all - at least not directly - The American version of the Bandogge is supposed to be APBT and Neo so no reall Bull unless we stretch back to saying the APBT has Bull and so does the Neo. Anyway here is a snipped from our Bandogge profile. so, no, the Bully is not a Bandog.
"The widely accepted recipe for an American Bandog is usually 50% American Pit Bull Terrier and 50% Neapolitan Mastiff, although some breeders use other mastiffs as well, like the English Mastiffs, Bullmastiffs, Cane Corsos, Rottweilers, Japanese Tosas, American Bulldogs, Brazilian Filas and so on, as well as English Bullterriers, American Staffordhires, Irish Staffies and others for the bull-n-terrier part of the equation. Interestingly enough, there are not many known bandog programs involving the use of Molossers such as the Central Asian Shepherd, Irish Wolfhound, Spanish Mastiff or any of the old terrier and hound breeds, all of which would be historically more correct than the modern "American cocktail", which relies on breeds which didn't even exist at the time bandogges "ruled" Europe. There is a number of modern Bandog breeds worldwide, such as the Czech Bandog, Australian Bandog, German Bandogge, Brazilian Bullmastiff, Ambullneo Mastiff and others, but most fanciers still associate the Bandogge name with the Swinford-concocted recipe, where the father should be a game-bred bull-n-terrier breed and the mother should be a large mastiff-type dog" Read more...

so a while back i was trying to make the argument that........technically......american bullies, could fall under the bandog category, as the american bullies are usually a mix of pitbull and other types of mastiffs etc. now when I say amercian bully, you have to remember there are many different classes of american bully, they have the xxl, the bully, and even the pocket pits. obviously the bully and pocket pits wouldnt fall under bandog, im speaking of the xxl large bullies, they mixed them with mastiffs, corsos, etc to get the xxl. anyways I came across this video of a guy who looks like hes using american bullies and outcrossing them to other dogs to create bandogs and thought I would share it.

What a bandog was .is a job not a breed and still is a job not a breed today a bulldog is a breed and very rarly a job the old way of breeding and clasifying dogs was by what they did not what they were if the dog did the job of a sheperd it by god was a shepard with little regards for the color or length of fur the translation for mastiff was and forgive me for not being exact but mongral ! Simply they breed pure by breeding sucesful with sucesful the translation of bandog or meaning was a dog (banded) or bound or tied or chained by day and released at night to deter and mutilate even kill trespassers thAt is a junkyard dog since then many breeds have sponed off of this function in to many more breeds .. today if you claim your dog is a "bandog" you better have a title in personal protection for that dog with video to back it up! A pure breed bandog litter is not full of bandog puppys there is no such a thing . It is an attempt to produce bandogs by breeding a titled female any breed or mix with a titled male in the hopes 1 mabe 2 have potential of earning a title and then they have earned the title of bandog the rest of the litter are muts and should be culled if you want your dog to be a bandog it can be with years of work and dedication but it is not now .. and may never be find a trainer you 'dont' like have it evaluated to see if it has the nerves stability and reliability to be trained join a club its not that expensive if you like it and your dog dosnt make the cutt get anouther !! If you didnt do your job your boss would fire you and americans to often put humanity in a dogie dog world

yeah i would agree with what you say. the difference being what makes a bandog a bandog is wether its being worked or not. or wether its a working dog. if you crossed an american bully with some other types of mastiff breeds etc. and worked the dogs. why wouldnt they be a bandog.....as a bandog is a working dog usually consisting of mastiff type crosses.....so do you have mastiff type crosses, yes. is the dog being worked, yes.
my dog is an american bully, crossed with some types of mastiffs. if i start protection work with my dog, would you call him a bandog, or a american bully that does protection work. but i wouldnt call him a pure american bully as hes been outcrossed to mastiff. anyways, a few cop friends of mine have recommended i go to the local bitework class that they offer. i have been meaning to make the trip. ill post some pics when i do.

well Cawkazn you had to lure me away from our youtube accounts to post up back here. Well time and experience has mad me wiser. First off Bandogs are an F1 cross and 2nd a working dog for combat. Now is the Bully a Bandog? In a word, no. Why? I have seen English Bulldogs and AKC AmStaffs in Bully pedigrees, not very working breeds. Now as far as Rambo goes he is rare example of athleticism and structure and you should enjoy every moment with him, it goes by way too fast.

Is a bully a bandog ? Noo!!! The bully is history repeating it self. The English bull dog was once a great working dog with lack of a job and a growing dogfighting and show world some were crossed to english white terriers and some were mutated in to extreamly overexagerations of a once great breed the bull and terrier branch had great success and branched out in to all the bull and terrier breeds most succsessful proformance wish the american pit bull terrier which is no branching off agine there are the extream 35# terriers mostly fighters and and the bullys anouthere over exagerated show breed breed complete opisite of proformance. There are some who believe some crosses were made to speed up trait seperation with akc bulldogs the american (pit) bulldog is a type of bandog breed mostly for proformance off the fighting pits and a type of masstiff bullys are more breed break down and stanndard incompetence if by pure luck your dog has working traits it would be a bulldog .. if you did a f1 cross with masstiff it would be the start of a handicap bandog program you might get lucky or wise after that but bullys are honey bobo pits good luck

yeah, thats exaclty my point. But dogs like this arent bred cause its not the popular kind of dog at the bully shows. It used to be about how big they can make them, now its about how short.
