To all lovers of Caucasian Mountain Dog (Caucasian Ovcharka, Kavkazskaya Ovcharka).
Caucasian Mountain Dog Alert
After the dismissing of dictator Aslan Abashidze in Ajarian Autonomy of Republic of Georgia, Georgian government now wants to disintegrate Aslan Abashidze's unique collection of Caucasian Mountain Dogs – near 20-25 dogs and sell separate dogs using auction. I am to explain, that this collection is absolutely unique and contains several extraordinary examples.
I ask you to help preserve this collection as it is – advising and pressing Georgian government to preserve it or to find foreign investor – who can get all the collection.

Author of this alert is me.
Unfortunately Abashidze's Kennel now is defragmented - some dogs have gone to Russia, some - to private owners of "roses revolution" mobb. Best collection on post-Soviet lands is disappiared

Hi Gary, The e-mail you receved is legit! It was even published in some daily press newspapers here in Serbia on Tuesday! Abashidze made that colection by selecting specimens among 200 dogs! The man was spending more then 20.000$ every month from Georgian and Ajarian (Georgian province where he ruled) budget. I've read those articles and seen pictures of their dogs and I can tell you that this collection realy is unique! I'll try to find and scan that for you and e-mail it to you or post it here. Take care! Aleksa aleksatomic@yahoo.com -

Here is little update on Aslan Abashidze dogs. When Abashidze left the province of Ajaria and ran to Russia, his dogs were settled at dog-pounds. One of his dogs, called Basmatch, was big problem to people who tried to put him in cage, being very teritorial and aggressive to strangers. Finaly, people manage to overpower him without any injuries. When Basmatch came to dog-pound, he started to suffer and refuse every meal that was offered to him. Situation was the same for days, so Ajarian authorities decided to transport the dog to Moscow where he will found his master Abashidze. It is fascinating how loyal and devoted dogs can be, more then any human. -
